The Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis), is small in size and is 23 to 29 cm in length. It is the smallest  of the grebe family of water birds and is commonly found in open ponds.

These Little Gebe was facing extinction in Singapore when the last patch of their habitat wasdue for destruction. It was lucky that somehow a handful of them make it to survive at a disused Singapore Quarry that was converted into a nature reserve.
